In the smartphone market, the Corona crisis has not caused much to go on in recent months. Manufacturers prefer to postpone the market launch, as Apple did with the new iPhone 12. In August, however, chinese smartphone maker Vivo wants to unveil its new flagship. The highlight: The smartphone should be fully charged in 15 minutes, reports “Computer Image”.

We are talking about IQOO 5. According to the manufacturer, the smartphone will be the first in the world with a 120-watt fast-charging function, according to Computer Bild. In a Video you can see how the smartphone’s battery charges to 50 percent in five minutes and 100 percent in 15 minutes.

This should be possible thanks to new technology in the energy storage system. The capacity of the battery is also large at 4,000 milliampere hours. By comparison, Apple’s iPhone 11 comes with a 5-watt charging cable, and silicon valley-based batteries have 3,110 milliampere hours.

The new IQOO 5 will also feature a new Snapdragon 865 chip. It has eight cores and a proud 2.84 gigahertz, so it provides a lot of performance behind the screen.

Vivo is owned by the Chinese electrical manufacturer BBK Electronics. The Group also owns the smartphone brand OnePlus, which is better known in Europe. Vivo has been expanding abroad since 2014 and was even the official smartphone manufacturer of the World Cup in Russia in 2018.

The device is scheduled to be unveiled at a press conference in China on August 17 at 6:30 a.m. German time.
